Description of key information

The ERV is 154 µg Pd L-1 and this is compared to the TD results for this substance.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Classification of poorly soluble metal substances is conducted by comparing the results from 7 and 28-day TD tests against acute and chronic environmental reference values (ERVs). For palladium substances the ERVs are based on ecotoxicity data for diamminedichloropalladium, as the most toxic palladium substance. Environmental classification of is determined by comparing the ecotoxicity results for diamminedichloropalladium against the TD test results for the substance. The LC50 for fish (Oncorhynchus mykiss) determined for diamminedichloropalladium is 154 µg Pd L-1(Teigeler 2012). The result was determined in a study following OECD 203, with five test concentrations. Test solutions were renewed after 48 hours, and fresh and aged test solutions were analysed. Results were based on geometric mean measured concentrations.
