Lemon oil is a Natural Complex Substance (NCS), typically consisting for 60% of d-limonene (range 25 -89%) and a range of minor constituents. All known constituents, comprising 97% of the composition of this NCS, are in the category of readily biodegradable substances. Therefore, Lemon oil is considered readily biodegradable.
Based on the ready biodegradability of the NCS, simulation tests in surface water, sediment and soil are not required in accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex IX. A simulation test will provide little additional information since rapid mineralisation in the environment is already assumed. In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex IX, further degradation testing does not need to be conducted as the chemical safety assessment does not indicate a need for further investigation.Information on Registered Substances comes from registration dossiers which have been assigned a registration number.
