Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

A 14 -day Early Seedling Growth Toxicity Test was conducted at a concentration belived to be the solubility limit of the substance using three plant species. The EC50 was not achieved at the highest concentration tested with each spieces.

Additional information

A 14 -day Early Seedling Growth Toxicity Test was conducted using three plant species, Lolium perenne (ryegrass), Raphanus sativus (radish), and Glycine max (soybean). The highest exposure concentrations of the tests were based on the solubility of di(2-ethylhexyl)terephthalate in half-strength Hoagland's solution. C14 radio labeled material was utilized to aid in the analytical measurement of this low solubility substance. Nominal treatment levels were 0.15, 1.5, 15, 150 and 1500 ug/l. The 14-d seedling growth EC50 value to radish and ryegrass was estimated to be greater than 1400 µg/L (maximum measured level) and greater than

1500 µg/L (maximum measured level) for soybean. The statistical analysis of the length and weight of all three plant species identified several concentrations which were significantly different (a=0.05) from the control. However, no toxic trend was apparent and the differences were not considered biologically deleterious.
