Results and discussion

Any other information on results incl. tables

A single administration of neutralised sodium chromate solution was not irritant to the rabbit eye. I n contrast, repeated administration of potassium dichromate in powder form daily for 7 days caused severe irritation including necrosis of the conjunctivae and ulceration of the cornea.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
irritating
Remarks:
Migrated information Criteria used for interpretation of results: EU
Conclusions:
It is concluded that the water soluble chromium (VI) compounds are likley to be eye irritants.
Executive summary:

The results of animal experiments indicate that water-soluble Cr (VI) compounds are likely to be eye irritants as a consequence of their low pH.
