Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Biodegradation in water and sediment: simulation tests

Currently viewing:

Administrative data

Endpoint:
biodegradation in water: sediment simulation testing
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
other:
Justification for type of information:
According to Annex IX, Column 2 of Regulation (EC) 1907/2006, "Further biotic degradation testing shall be proposed by the registrant if the chemical safety assessment according to Annex I indicates the need to investigate further the degradation of the substance and its degradation products. The choice of the appropriate test(s) depends on the results of the chemical safety assessment." Degradation/biodegradation testing is not relevant for metals and metal compounds, like Dibismuth Trioxide, which are considered as not (bio)degradable. Therefore, the chemical assessment of bismuth is based on the total initial concentration, which can be considered as a worst-case assumption.
