Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

NOEC Hexamethylendiamine (CAS: 124-09-4) = 4.2 mg/l
NOEC Adipic acid (CAS: 124-04-9) = 6.3 mg/l

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

There are no data on the chronic toxicity of AH-salt to aquatic invertebrates available. However, due to the rapid dissociation of AH-salt in water to

Adipic acid (CAS: 124-04-9) and Hexamethylendiamine (CAS: 124 -09 -4), it is appropiate to consider data on the dissociation products for the assessment of chronic toxicity. For both substances, chronic toxicity tests on Daphnia magna were performed by the Ministry of the Environment Japan (MOE 1997, 2002). The tests were performed according to OECD guideline 211 under GLP conditions. No observed effect concentrations (NOECreproduction) of 6.3 and 4.2 mg/l were determined for Adipic acid (CAS: 124 -04 -9) and Hexamethylendiamine (CAS: 124 -09 -4), underlining the little hazard potential of AH-salt towards aquatic organisms. The lower NOEC of 4.2 mg/l for Hexamethylendiamine was used for the derivation of PNECaqua.
