First-aid measures

General:

Grossly contaminated clothing: Take off immediately all contaminated clothing.

Wash immediately with plenty of water.

Eye contact:

Rinse immediately with plenty of water.

Continue for at least 15 minutes.

Obtain medical advice.

Skin contact:

Wash immediately with plenty of water.

Use soap if available.

Obtain medical advice if there are persistent symptoms.

Inhalation:

Immediately: remove patient to fresh air.

Obtain medical advice.

Ingestion:

Give water to drink.

Obtain medical advice.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media:

Water spray, foam, dry chemical, or carbon dioxide.

Exposure hazards:

None known

Combustion products:

Carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides (NOx).

Protective equipment:

Firefighters, and others exposed, wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

Equipment should be thoroughly decontaminated after use.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions:

Use personal protection recommended in section 'Exposure controls / personal protection'.

Environmental precautions:

Keep out of drains and water courses.

Methods for cleaning up:

In case of spill, sweep, scoop or vacuum and remove.

In case of spill, do not blow material.  Use vacuum equipment designed specifically for handling combustible dusts.

Flush spill area with water.

Handling and storage

Handling:

Good industrial practice in housekeeping and personal hygiene should be followed.

Use adequate ventilation.

Minimize dust.

Engineering measures:

Provide natural or mechanical ventilation to minimize exposure.

If practical, use local mechanical exhaust ventilation at sources of air contamination such as processing equipment.

Storage:

Keep container tightly closed and in a well-ventilated place.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Occupational exposure limit:

Trisodium nitrilotriacetate             Ascend: 1 mg/³;  total dust;  8-hr TWA

                                                           Ascend established exposure guideline.

                                                           Ascend: 2 mg/m³;  total dust;  15-min STEL

                                                           Ascend established exposure guideline.

Respiratory protection:

Avoid breathing dust.

Use approved respiratory protection equipment when airborne exposure is excessive.

If used, full facepiece replaces the need for face shield and/or chemical goggles.

Consult the respirator manufacturer to determine the appropriate type of equipment for a given application.

Observe respirator use limitations specified by the manufacturer.

Hand protection:

Wear chemical resistant gloves. Suitable materials: PVC, nitrile (rubber).

Eye protection:

Wear chemical goggles.

Have eye flushing equipment available.

Skin protection:

Wear suitable protective clothing.

Wear full protective clothing if exposed to splashes.

Wash contaminated skin promptly.

Launder contaminated clothing and clean protective equipment before reuse.

Have safety shower available at locations where skin contact can occur.

Wash thoroughly after handling.

Stability and reactivity

Conditions to avoid:

Do not expose to extreme temperatures.

Materials to avoid:

None known

Hazardous reactions:

Hazardous polymerization does not occur.

Hazardous decomposition products:

Decomposition temperature: 340 °C

Decomposition products: carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxides (NOx), smoke, soot.

Disposal considerations

All local and national regulations should be followed.

Burn only in proper incinerator.
