Description of key information

Two different QSAR approaches were used to estimate the bioconcentration factor (BCF) for 44PD (CAS nr 101-96-2). The results of both studies are very similar, with the QSAR based on the Kow value a log BCF of 1.978 was estimated and with the QSAR based on a mechanistic approach, describing uptake and elimination processes, a log BCF of 2.10 was estimated.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

BCF (aquatic species):
125.9 L/kg ww

Additional information

Two different QSAR approaches were used to estimate the bioconcentration factor (BCF) for 44PD (CAS nr 101-96-2). The results of both studies are very similar, with the QSAR based on the Kow value a log BCF of 1.978 was estimated and with the QSAR based on a mechanistic approach, describing uptake and elimination processes, a log BCF of 2.10 was estimated.

As the mechanistic approach is somewhat more reliable (the prediction rate of this QSAR is somewhat better) the result of this study was preferred and chosen as being representative. Therefore the log BCF is estimated to be 2.10, or BCF = 125.9 L/kg ww.
