Additional information

The substance is incapable of reacting exothermically with combustible materials on the basis of the chemical structure.

The oxidizing properties of Diuron Technical were investigated by EU Method A.17. The maximum burning rate of the mixtures of the test item and cellulose (0.88 mm/s) was less than the maximum burning rate of the reference mixture of cellulose and barium nitrate (1.21 mm/s). Diuron has no oxidizing properties in the sense of EU Method A.17.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The substance contains oxygen and chlorine and these elements are chemically bonded only to carbon or hydrogen. Therefore according to UN RTDG, Manual of Tests and Criteria, Appendix 6, 6.1.1., the test substance is incapable of reacting exothermically with combustible materials. It has no oxidizing properties according to CLP.
