Boron orthophosphate (EC 236-337-7, CAS 13308-51-5) is a solid white powder. The melting point of boron orthophosphate has been determined to be > 450°C and therefore a study for boiling point does not need to be conducted. The density was determined to be 706.7 g/L at 20 °C and the water solubility has been found to be 0.134 g/L at 20.0 ± 0.5° in un-buffered glass double-distilled water (typical final solution pH 3.1 -3.5). Thus, boron orthophosphate is considered to be moderately soluble. The granulometry data gives the following information: The particle size distribution shows that > 70% of particles were < 100 µm in diameter. Therefore, the substance is considered to be inhalable.

Overall, it can be concluded that boron orthophosphate is not considered to possess any of the following hazardous physico-chemical properties: autoflammability and/or self-ignition, flammability, explosiveness and oxidising properties.

Thus, the substance does not meet the classification criteria for physical-chemical hazard in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP) and the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS).
