Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Two tests on earthworms investigating the acute toxicity of Triclosan and the influence of the substance on reproduction are available. A OECD guideline 222 test focusing on the reproduction of Eisenia fetida determined a NOEC > 101.8 mg/kg soil after an exposure period of 4 weeks. Based on the reproduction an EC50 >101.8 mg/kg soil was reported (Ciba Inc.2010). In a study on acute toxicity of Triclosan performed in compliance with OECD guideline 207 Eisenia fetida was exposed to the substance in artificial soil. After 14 days the mortality was determined and a LC50 >1026 mg/kg soil (NOEC >= 1026 mg/kg) was detected (Ciba-Geigy 1990).
