Sampling and analysis
- Analytical monitoring:
- yes
- Details on sampling:
- All test medium samples for the analytical determinations were taken after mixing of the test solutions from the approximate center of the test vessels and kept at -18°C to -25 °C until analyses.
Test solutions
- Vehicle:
- no
- Details on test solutions:
- Stock solution: 100.4 mg test substance were mixed and made up to 1000 ml with water.
Test concentrations: dilution of stock solution with reconstituted water
Calculated amounts of the stock solution to produce the desired test concentrations were given into the water and were homogeneously distributed. After an equilibration time of 7 hours the daphnia were transferred into the beakers. The test substance was homogeneously distributed in the test vessels at all test concentrations at the begin of exposure. At the end of exposure a deposit was observed at all test concentrations and small parts of the substance were swimming at the surface of the test water at concentrations 21, 46 and 100 mg/L.
Test organisms
- Test organisms (species):
- Daphnia magna
- Details on test organisms:
- The test organism was the species Daphnia magna. The daphnids were bred in the laboratories of the Textile Dyes Division, Product Ecology TF under standardized conditions. For the test, animals with age of less than 24 hours were used. The quality of the daphnids will be checked at least every 3 months by determining the EC50 values (24 h) for potassium dichromate (range: 0.8 -1.5 mg/l).
For each concentration, 20 Daphnia magna were used.

- Validity criteria fulfilled:
- yes
- Conclusions:
- The 48-h EC50 to Daphnia magna was determined to be >32 mg/L (measured) which corresponds to 100 mg/L (nominal). The substance is not acutely harmul to aquatic invertebrates up to the maximum water solubility in the test medium.
