- Test procedure:
- burning rate test: preliminary screening test
- Remarks on result:
- substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period
- Interpretation of results:
- other: Not flammable in accordance with EU criteria
- Conclusions:
- Under the conditions of this study, the test material is considered ‘not flammable’.
- Executive summary:
The flammability of the test material was assessed according to Method N.1 of the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria.
The test material was formed into an unbroken strip or powder train about 250 mm long and a preliminary screening test is performed to determine if, on ignition by a gas flame, propagation by burning with flame or smouldering occurs. If propagation over 100 mm of the train occurs within a specified time then a full test program to determine the burning rate is carried out. If not, the substance is not classified as a flammable solid of Division 4.1 and no further test is required.
In the first preliminary test, the material reddened and became brownish. Neither ignition nor propagation was observed.
The same observations were recorded for the second preliminary assay.
Taking into account the results obtained during the preliminary test, no main test was performed.
The test material was not classified as a flammable solid of Division 4.1 and thus was not assigned to any packing group under the experimental conditions used.
According to EC No. 1272/2008 (CLP), the test material was not classified.

Description of key information
Flammability (Solids)
The test material was not classified as a flammable solid.
In accordance with Section 1 of Annex XI of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 (REACH), it is considered justified to omit the Flammability (Contact with Water) and Pyrophoric Properties of Solids and Liquids studies, also required under section 7.10 of Annex VII, on the basis that the testing does not appear to be scientifically necessary. Experience of handling the material and the known chemical and physical properties of the substance suggest that it is not pyrophoric and is not flammable in contact with water.

Justification for classification or non-classification
In accordance with the criteria for classification as defined in Annex I, Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, the substance does not require classification with respect to flammability.
