Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
Additional information
Benzoic acid, 4-[4-(2-oxiranyl)butoxy]-, 4-methoxyphenyl ester(Epoxyhexmes) is an offwhite, odourless, organic powder.
The melting temperature of Benzoic acid, 4-[4-(2-oxiranyl)butoxy]-, 4-methoxyphenyl ester was determined using DSC to be 78°C (351K).
The substance starts to react or decompose before boilng at a temperature of 175°C (448K).
The relative density of benzoic acid, 4-[4-(2-oxyranyl)butoxy]-4-methoxyphenyl ester is 1.247.
Light microscopic examination revealed that the Benzoic acid, 4-[4-(2-oxiranyl)butoxy]-, 4-methoxyphenyl ester contains a lot of particles < 100 µm. The shape of the product is non-fibrous.
The characteristics of the PSD of the fraction < 1000 µm are:
d10 [µm] 4.8
d50 [µm] 15
d90 [µm] 66
The vapour pressure of the test substance at 20°C (293K) and 25°C (298K) was<1.5E-3 Pa (<1.1E-5 mm Hg) and <4.2E-3 Pa (<3.2E-5 mm Hg), respectively.
The log Pow value of Benzoic acid, 4-[4-(2-oxiranyl)butoxy]-, 4-methoxyphenyl ester at neutral pH was 4.0 at 25°C.
The water solubility of the test substance was 0.586 mg/l at 20°C and pH 8.0.
Based on the structure, surface activity is not expected.
Since the substance is a solid, the flash point is waived.
Since the substances melt at <160 °C, auto flammability is waived.
The substance is non flammable, non explosive and has no oxidising properties.
For CLP there are additional data requirements that are not covered by REACH:
Flammable aerosols |
Gases under pressure |
Self-reactive substances and mixtures |
Selfheating substances and mixtures |
Corrosive against metals |
Waiving, not an aerosol |
Waiving, not a gas |
Based on chemical structure and on testing (Brekelmans 2011 DSC) |
Based ontesting (Brekelmans 2011 DSC) |
The substance is not corrosive to metals. It is a solid with very low water solubility. The substance is not hygroscopic. Based on the chemical structure corrosivity is not expected. |
