Materials and methods

Principles of method if other than guideline:
The report aims to describe the 28 days Transformation/Dissolution (T/D) behavior of dicopper sulphide at pH 6. The results of T/D protocol can be used to compare with the existing eco-toxicity reference values to establish the aquatic hazard classification of the tested substances.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The mean solubility values as copper for 7 (Acute) and 28 days (Chronic) T/D tests were 41.1 µg/L an d 83.9 µg/L, respectively. This is equivalent to daily release rates of 2.37 and 2.09 µg/L.
Executive summary:

A twenty-eight day chronic transformation/dissolution test was performed at pH 6 in OECD medium using 1 mg/L sample loading. Three replicate vessels were set up for the test material and one vessel for a

blank. Replicate samples vere taken in triplicte from each vessel at predeterined times and analysed for copper content.at the following pre-determined times: 0, 2, 6, 24, 48, 96, 168, 336, 504 and 672 hours.

The mean solubility value as copper for 7 days (Acute) was 41.1 µg/L. This is equivalent to a daily release rates of 2.37 µg/L.

The mean solubility value as copper for 28 days (Chronic) was 83.9 µg/L. This is equivalent to a daily release rate of 2.09 µg/L.
