Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

From 17 September 2014 to 22 January 2015
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
reference to same study
Qualifier:
according to guideline

Key result
Remarks on result:
other: No self-ignition temperature of the test item was observed up to 400°C.

At the start of the test, the test item was a slightly yellow crystalline solid.

At the end of the test, the cube was nearly empty; only a small part (some traces) of the test item remained. The solubilisation of the test item in its hydration water was observed between 65.5 and 87.9°C (study report No. 14-918035-001). The test item had liquefied and fallen in the small dish downside. Between approximately 320 and 550°C, the test item decomposed into rare earth oxynitrate.

Conclusions:
No self-ignition temperature of the substance was observed up to 400°C (corrected value).
Executive summary:

The self-ignition temperature of dysprosium trinitrate was investigated according to EU A.16 method in compliance with GLP. No self-ignition temperature was observed up to 400°C (corrected value).

Description of key information

Dysprosium trinitrate was concluded not to be autoflammable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

An experimental study of reliability 1 according to Klimisch, performed in compliance with GLP and according to EU method A.16, was selected as a key study. In this study, no self-ignition temperature was observed up to 400°C (corrected value). The temperature of the test item followed the temperature of the oven throughout the test.
