Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

If inhaled:

Move to fresh air. Seek medical attention immediately.

On skin contact:

Remove contaminated clothing. Wash affected skin with soap and plenty of water. If skin irritation or dermatitis commences or persists seek medical attention.

On contact with eyes:

Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 10 minutes taking care to wash under the eyelids. If irritation persists, seek medical attention.

On ingestion:

Do not induce vomiting. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Check breathing and pulse. Place victim in the recovery position, cover and keep warm. Loosen tight clothing such as a collar, tie, belt or waistband. Seek medical attention. Rinse mouth and then drink plenty of water. Do not give mouth to mouth resuscitation. Use resuscitation bag and mask.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media:

carbon dioxide, dry powder, water spray, alcohol-resistant foam

Unsuitable extinguishing media for safety reasons:

Full water jet

Combustion products:

Carbon and nitrogen oxides.

Exposure hazards:

Containers may rupture/explode if exposed to fire In case of nearby fire keep containers cool with waterspray Do not release chemically contaminated water into drains, soil or surface water. Sufficient measures must be taken to retain the water used for extinguishing. Dispose of contaminated water and soil according to local regulations. There is a danger of polymerization occurring if involved in a fire Flammable vapour/air mixture on heating.

Special protective equipment:

Chemical protection suit, suitable gloves, boots and self contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions:

Use personal protective clothing. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing. Ensure adequate ventilation. Keep away sources of ignition.

Environmental precautions:

Collect contaminated water/firefighting water seperately.

Do not discharge into the drains/surface waters/grpundwater.

Methods for cleaning-up or taking-up:

Ventilate room. Remove sources of ignition.

Pick up with inert absorbent material (e.g. sand, earth etc.).

Scoop into marked containers for disposal as chemical waste.

After cleaning flush away traces with water.

Handling and storage

Handling

Do not eat, drink or smoke during work.

Before breaks and end of work wash hands and/or face.

Do not breath vapours spray or mist

Avoid contact with skin and eyes

Earth all containers when transferring the material.

Keep away from heat, sparks and flame.

Open container only under local exhaust ventilation

Protection against fire and explosion:

Keep away from heat and sources of ignition.

Vapours can form an explosive mixture with air.

Take precautionary measures against static discharges (earthing (grounding) at pouring)

Storage requirements:

Keep containers dry. Protect from light.

Store in tightly closed containers in a cool, well-ventilated area, away from heat and ignition sources.

Do not store withacids, alkalines or combustible materials

Do not store with oxidizing agents

Protect from direct sunlight.

Do not store above 40°C.

To prevent unintended polymerisation inhibitor levels must be checked monthly in material stored for more than 3 months. Permit air space to exist inside storage containers. Never use pure nitrogen or oxygen for blanketing
