First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures

General advice:

If exposed or concerned: Immediately call a POISON CENTER or doctor/physician.

Show this safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance.

There is no specific antidote. Use appropriate supportive and symptomatic treatment as indicated

by the patient’s condition.

Use personal protective equipment as required.

Necessary first aid equipment and facilities: eye rinsing equipment, showers for emergency,

oxygen therapy devices, first aid kits and stretcher.

Remove the victim from the endangered environment.

If inhaled:

Remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. For breathing

difficulties, oxygen may be necessary. If not breathing give artificial respiration. Consult a

physician.

In case of skin contact:

Remove/take off all contaminated clothes and wash before reuse.

Wash with plenty of soap and water. If the skin is damaged: after washing with water, cover the

exposed part with a clean, preferably sterile, lint-free dressing. Consult physician.

In case of eye contact:

Rinse cautiously with water for 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do.

Continue rinsing. Consult physician.

If swallowed:

Wash out mouth with water. If material has been swallowed and the exposed person is

conscious, give small quantities of water to drink. Stop if the exposed person feels sick as

vomiting may be dangerous. Do not induce vomiting unless directed to do so by medical

personnel. If vomiting occurs, the head should be kept low so that vomit does not enter the lungs.

Get medical attention. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. If unconscious,

place in recovery position and get medical attention immediately.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Nausea and vomiting

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

To remove substance from stomach and intestine, after vomiting, rinse of stomach and

administering brine as laxative are needed.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media: use water spray, alcohol resistant foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide

Unsuitable extinguishing media: No data

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

In case of fire Sulphur oxides (SOx ), Nitrogen oxides (NOx), Carbon oxides (COx) may be

evolved.

Advice for firefighters

Flammability class: „D” Moderately flammable

Flammability rate: III.

Fire group: T3

Special requirement:

Wear full protective clothing and self-contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

For non-emergency personnel

Isolate hazard area and deny entry to unnecessary or unprotected personnel. Notify appropriate

authorities.

For emergency responders

Wear protective clothing and breathing apparatus

Environmental precautions

Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Do not let product enter drains. Discharge

into the environment must be avoided.

Methods and materials for containment and cleanng up

Collect the spilled material! The rest soak up with inert absorbent material (e.g. vermiculite) and

dispose of as hazardous waste. Keep in suitable closed container for disposal.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Avoid inhalation of vapour or mist.

Handle according to the general requirements of chemicals. Wear required personal protective

equipments.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilties

Packaging material:

Plastic lined steel drum, plastic or stainless steel container.

Storage room:

Store in cool place but not under -10 oC. Keep container tightly closed in a dry and wellventilated place far from any source of heat and open flame.

Do not store together with food and feed.

Specific end uses

Active substance in pre-plant herbicides for sugar beet

Exposure controls / personal protection

Exposure controls

Use in accordance with the requirements. Use sealed systems as far as possible. Ensure adequate

general ventilation or local exhaust.

Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Wash hands before

breaks and at the end of workday. Before reuse, wash contaminated clothes separately.

Personal protective equipment:

Eye/face protection:

Face shield and safety glasses according to EN 166.

Skin protection:

Complete suit protecting against chemicals (Tyvek). Shoes made of rubber. Protective hat.

Hand protection:

Handle with gloves protecting against chemicals (EN-374).

Respiratory protection:

When risk assessment shows air-purifying respirators are appropriate use a full-face respirator

with A2 filter.

Thermal hazards: No data.

Environmental exposure control: normal procedure, no specific data.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity No data

Chemical stability No data

Possibility of hazardous reaction No data

Conditions to avoid Heat and ignition sources.

Incompatible materials No data

Hazardous decomposition products

In case of fire: Sulphur oxides (SOx ), Nitrogen oxides (NOx), Carbon oxides (COx)

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods

Close leakage as possible. Spilled product shall be contained with dam and pumped. The product

shall be transferred from the container leaked into a new one. The remaining liquid shall be

soaked with sand or soil and placed in a container tightly closed. The container shall be

transferred to a waste storage place. Offer surplus and non-recyclable product to a licensed

disposal company.

EWC Code: For disposal within the EC, the appropriate code according to the European Waste

List (EWL) should be used. It is among the tasks of the polluter to assign the waste to waste

codes specific to industrial sectors and processes according to the European Waste List (EWL).

Contaminated packaging disposal: As dangerous waste similar to unused product.

Special precaution measures:

Do not empty into drains, dispose of this material and its container at hazardous or special

waste collection point.
