Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex X, the long-term toxicity testing to sediment organisms shall be proposed depending on the results of the chemical safety assessment. Sodium formate is readily biodegradable, is not expected to adsorb to solid soil phase (log Koc < 3) and does not accumulate significantly in organisms (log Kow < 3). Results from the pelagic studies indicate that sodium formate is acutely not harmful. The equilibrium partitioning method can be used to assess the hazard for sediment organisms.
