Conclusion on classification

The results from the aquatic toxicity studies are as follows:

LC50 (96 h) fish = >50 mg/L

EC50 (48 h) Daphnia = 12 mg/L

ErC50 (72 h) algae = >36.1 mg/L

EC50 microorganisms was determined to be 800 mg/L

Acute toxicity

LC/EC50 values are all greater than 1 mg/L therefore, according to Table 4.1.0(a) of the CLP regulation, the substance is not classified for acute (short-term) aquatic hazard.

Chronic Toxicity

NOEC 21 day Daphnia = 2.89 mg/L

NOEC algae = 7.2 mg/L

NOEC fish = >11.9 mg/L (calculated) - see waiver for fish long-term toxicity test attached below.

Not readily biodegradable

According to Figure 4.1.1 of the CLP regulation, for substances where adequate chronic toxicity data are available for all three tropic levels and are not readily biodegradable, classification is undertaken in accordance with Table 4.1.0(b)(i).

Chronic NOECs are all greater than 1 mg/L, therefore, according to Table 4.1.0(b)(i) of the CLP regulation the substance is not classified for long-term hazard to the aquatic environment.

Based on the aquatic toxicity EC/LC50 values all greater than 10mg/l and the NOEC for long term toxicity all greater than 1mg/L the substance is classified as follows:

- according to Directive 76/548/EEC the substance is not classified as dangerous to the aquatic environment

- according to the CLP regulation 1272/2008 the substance is not classified as hazardous to the aquatic environment
