Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

A calculated BCF of 9.8 was determined for butadiene on the basis of a log Kow of 1.99.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

BCF (aquatic species):
9.8 dimensionless

Additional information

The bioaccumulation in aquatic species study has not been conducted as 1,3 -butadiene has a low potential for bioaccumulation, with a log octanol water partition coefficient less than 3. On the basis of its log Kow of 1.99, a BCF of 9.8 has been calculated. As 1,3 -butadiene is a gas that will rapidly volatilize from the aquatic environment, direct and indirect exposure in the aquatic environment is unlikely.
