Description of key information

Activated Sludge: EC50(3h): 712 mg/L (nominal concentration) based on respiration rate (ISO 8192 - Test for Inhibition of Oxygen Consumption by Activated Sludge, comparable to OECD TG 209, static test)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for microorganisms:
712 mg/L

Additional information

Toxicity of dicyclohexylamine to activated sludge was evaluated by Bayer AG (1990) according to the ISO 8192, comparable to OECD TG 209. The activated sludge obtained an EC50 value of 712 mg/L when exposed to dicyclohexylamine for 3 hours.

There is also one other study (data assessed as 4 according to Klimish codes) in the OECD Screening Information DataSets (SIDS) for DCHA: Cell multiplication inhibition test (method according to Bringmann, G.; Kuehn, R.: WAF 10, 87-98 (1977)) with result 18 h EC0 = 500 mg/L, but the data are insufficient for detailed assessment.
