Vapour pressure

Description of key information

Two studies are referenced and both showed a similar vapour pressure result.  Furthermore, use of the EPISuite v4.0 software calculates vapour pressure using three different methods and quotes a further experimental value that are all consistent with using 0.34 hPa as a weight of evidence based value for this endpoint

Additional information

Two experimental studies are referenced and both studies showed a very similar vapour pressure result. Full details of the methods used are not available but the closeness of the results allows us to use 0.34 hPa at 20°C as the weighted evidence result.

In addition, use of the EPISuite v4.0, MPBPVP (v1.43) software calculates vapour pressure using three different calculation methods giving results in the range of 57.7 to 67.7 Pa at 25°C. An average of 62.7 Pa at 25°C based on the average of two out of three calculation methods is selected by the software. This is compared to a quoted experimental VP result of 34.7 Pa at 20°C which is referenced to Wang Y et al, 1996.

This calculated set of vapour pressure data and the experimental value of Wang is consistent with other studies after allowing for test temperature differences. Therefore it is considered suitable for use as part of the weight of evidence used for this endpoint

Further test work would require sophisticated, advanced and non-routine handling of test samples and it could arise in hazardous testing conditions. As such, no further testing is planned
