Description of key information

According to section 9.1.4 of column 2, Annex VIII the study does not need to be conducted if the substance is found to be readily biodegradable and the applied test concentrations are in the range of concentrations that can be expected in the influent of a sewage treatment plant. Dibutyl fumerate was found to be readily biodegradable in a test using a test substance concentration of 24 mg/L. According to DSM Fine Chemicals Austria the maximum emission in the influent of a sewage treatment plant is 11.1 mg/L which is below the concentration tested in the test for ready biodegradability.
