Results and discussion

Any other information on results incl. tables

Using a linear increase in temperature of about 0.5°C/min up to about 100°C, the test substance showed no self-ignition reaction. At the end of the experiment, the test item was liquid.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The test substance is considered not to be auto-flammable, according to the criteria described in the guideline.
Executive summary:

The relative self-ignition temperature of 12-hydroxystearic acid was determined according to EU Method A.16.

The test substance was filled in a cube (with wire mesh top) and placed in an oven. The temperature of the oven and the sample were continuously recorded using thermocouples while the temperature of the oven increased to approx. 100°C at an average rate of 0.5°C/min.

Using a linear increase in temperature of about 0.5°C/min up to about 100°C, the test substance showed no self-ignition reaction. At the end of the experiment the test item was liquid.

In conclusion, the test substance is considered not to be auto-flammable, according to the criteria described in the guideline.
