Description of key information

The alkyl dimethyl betaines are readily biodegradable, hydrolysis is not expected to be an important process in the fate of Betaines, C12-14 (even numbered)-alkyldimethyl.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The alkyl dimethyl betaines including the registered substance Betaines, C12-14 (even numbered)-alkyldimethyl are readily biodegradable. Therefore, it is concluded that hydrolysis neither is an important process in the fate of this amphoteric surfactants nor has any considerable effect on the stability of the test substances during the aquatic toxicity studies performed with these type of substances.
