Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Physical appearance [2,4,6-trimethyl-2,4,6-tris(3,3,3-trifluoropropyl)cyclotrisiloxane]: The physical state of the substance is influenced by the proportion of the isomers present in the substance and may be either solid or liquid.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Physical state at 20°C and 1013 hPa:
solid

Additional information

2,4,6-Trimethyl-2,4,6 -tris(3,3,3-trifluoropropyl)cyclotrisiloxane exists as two geometric isomers. In available sources, approximately 80:20 trans:cis substance was reported as a white crystalline or translucent solid at 25°C and a colourless transparent liquid at 35°C.

The proportion of each isomer influences the physical state of the substance. The melting point was reported as 35°C for 99.5% trans, -7°C for 85% cis and -1.9°C for 96% cis.

The substance as registered is a mono-constituent substance where the main constituent (trans geometric isomer) is present at concentrations≥72% w/w, and a named impurity (the cis geometric isomer) may be present at concentrations≥0% -≤28% w/w. The substance therefore may be solid or liquid at room temperature depending on the proportion of isomers.
