Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

According to the ECHA Guidance document R7b, no further test on the toxicity to microorganisms has to be conducted if the toxicity control in a ready biodegradability test shows no inhibitory effects on microorganisms. As the toxicity control in the OECD 301F Biodegradability test showed no inhibition of the microbial activity at a substance concentration of 100 mg/L, no further test is necessary to evaluate the respiration inhibition of activated sludge. The concentration used in the toxicity control (100 mg/L) can be used as NOEC value.

Additional information

A biodegradation test was carried out following the methods outline in the OECD 301F guidelines. The toxicity control vessel, containing the test item and aniline, achieved 37% biodegradation after 14 days and 41% biodegradation after 28 days. This confirms the test item is not toxic to the sewage treatment micro-organisms used in the test. The test concentration of the substance was 100mg/L.
