Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
Eyes: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Get medical aid.
Skin: Get medical aid. Immediately flush skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes.
Ingestion: Get medical aid. Do NOT induce vomiting. If conscious and alert, rinse mouth and drink 2-4 cupfuls of milk or water.
Inhalation: Remove from exposure and move to fresh air immediately. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Get medical aid.
Notes to Physician: Treat symptomatically and supportively.
Fire-fighting measures
General Information: As in any fire, wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent), and full protective gear. During a fire, irritating and highly toxic gases may be generated by thermal decomposition or combustion. Hazardous decomposition products: hydrogen cyanide, carbon monoxide, oxides of nitrogen, carbon dioxide, hydrogen fluoride gas, fluorine.
Extinguishing Media: Use water spray, dry chemical, carbon dioxide, or chemical foam.
Accidental release measures
General Information: Use proper personal protective equipment : protective clothing and gloves, safety goggles and respirator.
Spills/Leaks: Vacuum or sweep up material and place into a suitable disposal container. Clean up spills immediately, observing precautions. Avoid generating dusty conditions. Do not let this chemical enter the environment.
Handling and storage
Handling: Minimize dust generation and accumulation.Provide appropriate exhaust ventilation at places where dust is formed. Normal measures for preventive fire protection. Avoid breathing dust, mist, or vapor. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Avoid ingestion and inhalation.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place. Store in a tightly closed container.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Engineering Controls: Facilities storing or utilizing this material should be equipped with an eyewash facility and a safety shower. Use adequate ventilation to keep airborne concentrations low.
Exposure Limits: none listed
OSHA Vacated PELs: 2-Amino-6-fluorobenzonitrile: No OSHA Vacated PELs are listed for this chemical.
Personal Protective Equipment
Eyes: Wear appropriate protective eyeglasses or chemical safety goggles as described by OSHA's eye and face protection regulations in 29 CFR 1910.133 or European Standard EN166.
Skin: Wear appropriate protective gloves to prevent skin exposure.
Clothing: Wear appropriate protective clothing to prevent skin exposure.
Respirators: Follow the OSHA respirator regulations found in 29 CFR 1910.134 or European Standard EN 149. Use a NIOSH/MSHA or European Standard EN 149 approved respirator if exposure limits are exceeded or if irritation or other symptoms are experienced.
Stability and reactivity
Chemical Stability: Stable under normal temperatures and pressures.
Conditions to Avoid: Incompatible materials, dust generation.
Incompatibilities with Other Materials: Strong oxidizing agents, strong reducing agents, strong acids, strong bases.
Hazardous Decomposition Products: Hydrogen cyanide, carbon monoxide, oxides of nitrogen, carbon dioxide, hydrogen fluoride gas, fluorine.
Hazardous Polymerization: Has not been reported.
Disposal considerations
MATERIAL SHOULD BE DISPOSED OF IN ACCORDANCE WITH LOCAL, STATE AND FEDERAL REGULATIONS
Dispose of as special waste in compliance with local and national regulations Observe all federal, state and local environmental regulations.
Chemical waste generators must determine whether a discarded chemical is classified as a hazardous waste. Additionally, waste generators must consult state and local hazardous waste regulations to ensure complete and accurate classification.
