Description of key information

- melting point (1013.25 hPa) = 2430 ± 10 °C

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
2 430 °C

Additional information

- The value for the key parameter is based on the a study considered to be reliable (Latta 1970 A + B, 2430 ± 10 °C). Values from Lang (1956, 2452 ± 2 °C) and Engberger (1959, 2450 ± 30 °C (hot pressed sample) and 2470 ± 20 °C (extruded sample)) under argon atmosphere are in good agreement to this value. Values between 2500 and 2600 °C reported in older studies are regarded as less reliable due to technical limitations at that time.
