Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

A sample of Sodium N-(2-aminoethyl)-.beta.-alaninate , concentrated, was tested to assess its potential to cause effects on the growth of the green algae, Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata. This test was conducted using the following nominal concentrations: 12.5, 25, 50, 100, and  200 mg Test Item/L in addition to a negative control (0 mg/L).

The test met all the test validity criteria. There was one amendment and no deviations associated with this study.

Sodium (Na) was analysed as a proxy for the test item, therefore, the biological test endpoint was calculated using the nominal concentration of the test item. Concentration of sodium in test solutions was consistent between solutions collected at test initiation, each renewal, and test completion, with values well within ±20% of the mean sodium concentration for the nominal test item concentration.

the EC10 and EC50 related to growth rate were 145.2 mg/l and > 200 mg/l, respectively.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
200 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
145.2 mg/L
