Description of key information

From OECD studies, there is sufficient evidence from various teststo assure that hexylcinnamaldehyde is readily biodegradable meeting the 10 day window .

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

Three studies were located on ready biodegradability. One study used adapted sludge and is therefore not valid for evaluating ready biodegradation. A second which achieved >60% biodegradation but failed the 10 day window, used a modified Sturm test under closed conditions to prevent loss due to volatility. The third study was conducted according to OECD Guideline 301F. In the study it was shown that 97% of the substance was mineralised within 28 days meeting the 10 day window criterion.
