Results and discussion
Small-scale preliminary tests
- Key result
- Parameter:
- other: DSC-measurement up to 500°C in a closed glass crucible under nitrogen
- Value:
- 30
- Remarks on result:
- not thermal sensitive if heated under defined confinement
- Remarks:
- In the DSC-measurement the energy of the exothermic decomposition of the test item ZrO was below the threshold of 500 J/g (absolute value of the exothermic energy).
Any other information on results incl. tables
In the temperature range of 310 – 350 °C a small exothermic effect can be observed, with an average decomposition energy of 30 J/g.
Due to the decomposition energy being below the threshold of 500 J/g (absolute value of the exothermic energy), further tests for explosive properties did not have to be performed.
Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Interpretation of results:
- GHS criteria not met
- Conclusions:
- According to the results of the test on thermal stability, the test item is classified as following:
UN Transport Regulation: The test item does not have to be classified as explosive substance in class 1 according to the UN Transport Regulation.
GHS (CLP Regulation EC 1272/2008: Annex 1: 2.1): The test item does not have to be classified as explosive substance according to GHS or CLP Regulation EC 1272/2008 Annex 1: 2.1, respectively.
Regulation EC No. 440/2008 and Directive 67/548/EEC:The test item has no explosive properties according to the Regulation EC No. 440/2008 Method A.14. Explosive Properties. - Executive summary:
In the DSC-measurement the energy of the exothermic decomposition of the test item ZrO was < 500 J/g (absolute value of the exothermic energy). Therefore, further tests for explosive properties had not to be performed.
According to the results of the test on thermal stability, the test item is classified as following:
UN Transport Regulation: The test item does not have to be classified as explosive substance in class 1 according to the UN Transport Regulation.
GHS (CLP Regulation EC 1272/2008: Annex 1: 2.1): The test item does not have to be classified as explosive substance according to GHS or CLP Regulation EC 1272/2008 Annex 1: 2.1, respectively.
Regulation EC No. 440/2008 and Directive 67/548/EEC:The test item has no explosive properties according to the Regulation EC No. 440/2008 Method A.14. Explosive Properties.
