Description of key information
The 96-h LC50 to fish (Pimephales promelas) in the key study was determined at 2.0 mg/L.
As results with warmwater fish which are used to constant environmental conditions are more reliable than tests with coldwater species, a 96 -h LC50 for rainbow trout at 0.84 mg/L was used as supporting study. Coldwater species are known to significantly vary in their toxicity response depending on the environmental conditions, especially with changing temperature (annual/seasonal life cycle). Warmwater species react more independently as their physical fitness is not related to the time of the year when testing takes place.
