Description of key information

The substance will hydrolyse in stomach to sorbitol, which is mainly metabolised to carbon dioxide, and 3,4-dimethylbenzaldehyde which will be conjucated with glycine and excreted rapidly to urine.
Inhaled materials will behave like inert particulates, and are cleared from the lungs by the mucociliary system.

Additional information

Orally administered test substance will hydrolyse in stomach to sorbitol and 3,4-dimethylbenzaldehyde. Sorbitol is slowly absorbed and mainly metabolised to carbon dioxide. 3,4-dimethylbenzaldehyde are expected to be oxidized to aromatic acid, which will be conjucated with glycine and excreted rapidly to urine.

Inhaled materials will behave like inert particulates, and are cleared from the lungs by the mucociliary system.
