First-aid measures

4.1 Description of first aid measures:
Consult a physician. Show this safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance.
4.1.1 In case of inhalation:
Remove from exposure to fresh air immediately. If not breathing, give artificial respiration.
4.1.2 In case of skin contact:
Immediately flush skin with excess water for 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing.
4.1.3 In case of eyes contact:
Immediately flush eyes with excess water for 15 minutes, lifting lower and upper eyelids occasionally.
4.1.4 In case of ingestion:
Rinse mouth. Artificial respiration may be needed. Refer for medical attention.
4.2 Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed:
Harmful if swallowed. Harmful if inhaled. May cause damage to organs.
4.3 Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed:
Persons with pre-existing skin, eye, or respiratory disease may be at increased risk from the irritant or allergic properties of this material. Attending physician should treat exposed patients symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

5.1 Extinguishing media:
Suitable extinguishing media: Use water spray, carbon dioxide, dry chemical powder, or appropriate foam for extinction.
Unsuitable extinguishing media: Not available.
5.2 Special hazards arising from the
substance or mixture When heated to decomposition, emits acrid fumes.
5.3 Special fire fighting methods and
special protective actions for
fire-fighters: Firefighters should wear full fire fighting turn-out gear and respiratory protection (SCBA). Cool container with water spray.

Accidental release measures

6.1 Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:
6.1.1 For non-emergency personnel: Use personal protection recommended in Section 8. Isolate the hazard area and deny entry to unnecessary and unprotected personnel.
6.1.2 For emergency responders: Wear an appropriate NIOSH/MSHA approved respirator if dust is generated. Ensure adequate ventilation.
6.2 Environmental Precautions: Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Discharge into the environment must be avoided.
6.3 Methods for Containment and Cleaning
up: Sweep up spill and place in sealed bag or container for disposal. Ventilate and wash spill area after pickup is complete. Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal.
6.4 Reference to other sections: See Section 7 for information on safe handling.
See Section 8 for information on personal protection equipment.
See Section 13 for information on disposal.
6.5 Additional information: No data available.

Handling and storage

7.1 Precautions for safe handling:
7.1.1 Protective measures: Use with adequate ventilation and do not breathe dust or vapor. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, or clothing. Wash hands thoroughly after handling.
7.1.2 Advice on general occupational
hygiene: Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Avoid formation of dust and aerosols. Do not breathe dust. Do not breathe vapors or spray mist. Wash hands and face thoroughly after handling.
7.2 Conditions for safe storage, including
any incompatibilities: Do not store in Flammable Area [Red Storage] with other flammable materials and any strong oxidizers. Store in a dedicated flammables cabinet. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated, locked store room away from incompatible materials.
7.3 Specific end use(s): No data available.

Exposure controls / personal protection

8.1 Control parameters:
8.1.1 Occupational exposure limits: Bornan-2-one (CAS#76-22-2):
Country of origin Occupational exposure limit values
Long term/ Eight hours Short term
United Kingdom 2 ppm 13 mg/m3 3 ppm 19 mg/m3
United States OSHA - 2 mg/m3 - -
Belgium 2 ppm 12 mg/m3 3 ppm 19 mg/m3
8.1.2 Additional exposure limits under the
conditions of use: Not available
8.1.3 DNEL/DMEL and PNEC-Values: Not available
8.2 Exposure controls:
8.2.1 Appropriate engineering controls: Use ventilation to keep airborne concentrations below exposure limits. Have approved eyewash facility, safety shower, and fire extinguishers readily available.
8.2.2 Individual protection measures, such as personal protective equipment:
Eye/face protection: Sufficient eye protection must be worn. Wear glasses with side protection.
Hand protection: In full contact: Glove material: nitrile rubber; Layer thickness: 0.11 mm. Breakthrough time: > 480 Min. In splash contact: Glove material: nitrile rubber; Layer thickness: 0.11 mm. Breakthrough time: > 480 Min.
Body protection: Choose body protection according to the amount and concentration of the dangerous substance at the work place.
Respiratory protection: Required when dusts are generated. Filter A-(P2).
Thermal hazards: Wear suitable protective clothing to prevent heat.
8.2.3 Environmental exposure controls: Avoid discharge into the environment.
According to local regulations, Federal and official regulations.

Stability and reactivity

10.1 Reactivity: The substance is stable under normal storage and handling conditions.
10.2 Chemical stability: Stable at room temperature in closed containers under normal storage and handling conditions. Hygroscopic.
10.3 Possibility of hazardous reactions: Risk of explosion in contact with: strong oxidizing agents, chromium trioxide; ozone.
The substance forms an explosive mixture with air.
10.4 Conditions to avoid: Incompatible materials. Do not store over 49°C. Avoid heat and ignition sources.
10.5 Incompatible materials: Acids, Alkalies, and Peroxides.
10.6 Hazardous decomposition products: CO, CO2, nitrous oxides, smoke.

Disposal considerations

13.1 Waste treatment methods: Hazardous waste according to Waste Catalogue Ordinance (AVV). If there is no way of recycling it must be disposed of in compliance with the respective national and local regulations.
13.2 Product / Packaging disposal: If empty container retains product residues, all label precautions must be observed. Return for reuse or dispose according to national or local regulations.
