Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
solubility in organic solvents / fat solubility
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2013
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
test procedure in accordance with generally accepted scientific standards and described in sufficient detail
Remarks:
Study with good documentation
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: OECD 105
GLP compliance:
no
Medium:
n-octanol
Solubility:
2.32 g/L
Temp.:
20 °C
Test substance stable:
yes

The concentrations of the different test solutions were calculated automatically using the equation of the calibration curve and considering the dilution factor of the test solutions. The results are listed in the following table:

Nominal saturation concentration (g/L)

Octanol solubility, Results (g/L)

7.5

2.22

12.5

2.32

25

2.42

Total average concentration over three incubation times:

2.32 g/L, RSD 4.4 %

Thus, the following rounded value for n-Octanol solubility of the test item Sodium dicyclohexyl sulfosuccinate can be reported when applying similar conditions described for water solubility according to EU test method L383 A/54-62 (EEC A.6):

n-Octanol solubility of Sodium dicyclohexyl sulfosuccinate = 2.32 g/L

The n-Octanol solubility was determined at 20 °C. pH value cannot be indicated, as pH is only defined for aqueous solutions, not for octanol solutions.

Conclusions:
octanol solubility (20°C): 2.32 g/L
Executive summary:

In the non-GLP Kllimisch 1 study from Frischmann (2012) the octanol solubility of Sodium dicyclohexyl sulfosuccinate was determined following the method as outlined in the OECD 105. Instead of water, octanol was used. The octanol solubility at 20°C was determined to be 2.32 g/L.

This value is considered relevant an reliable for the risk assessment.
