Irritant / corrosive response data:
Undiluted PEHA and the 10% aqueous solution studied in the laboratory are both capable of producing severe skin injury if care is not taken to avoid confined contact or contact with abraded skin. Short contact with exposed skin areas exemplified by the ungloved hand should pose no problem. Exposures in excess of an hour, however, would likely result in considerable irritation and possibly a skin burn particularly if abrasions are present.
