PBT assessment

Administrative data

PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Persistence (P and vP)

Biotic degradation of the substance 1,3:2,4-Bis-O-(3,4-dimethylbenzylidene)-D-glucitol: A test on biodegradation according to OECD Guideline 301 B resulted in 28% degradation after 28 days (SNIF#001-5.2.11-01a), while a MITI-test resulted in 0% degradation (SNIF#001-5.2.11-01b).

The result of the OECD 301B test gives some indication that the substance could be inherently degradable. However, as a test on inherent biodegradability is not available, no final conclusion can be drawn about the P-properties.

Bioaccumulation (B and vB)

The substance is expected not to bioaccumulate based on the log Kow of 3.4 at 22 °C.

Toxicity (T)

The substance is not toxic (not T) based on the results of the aquatic toxicity studies and the relevant toxicity studies.

The substance is not considered as PBT and/or vPvB.
