In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex IX, an investigation of the potential for bioaccumulation in aquatic and/or sediment-dwelling species does not need to be conducted as the logKow of biphenyl-4,4'-diol is below the relevant trigger value.

An investigation of the potential for bioaccumulation in aquatic and/or sediment-dwelling species does not need to be conducted as the logKow of biphenyl-4,4'-diol is 2.7, below the trigger value of 3.0.

Moreover, measured Koc in soil and sewage works sludge ranged from 79 to 200 L/kg. It may be inferred that biphenyl-4,4-diol has a negligible tendency to partition to sediment and that significant exposure of sediment-dwelling organisms is unlikely to occur.
