Conclusion on classification

According to Annex VI of Directive 67/548/EEC, there is no environmental classification for2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate. The acute toxicity to daphnids, fish, and algae are > 100 mg/L. In addition, 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate has a low Kow (0.42) and is not expected to bioaccumulate. The substance (2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) also met the criteria of readily biodegradable in several OECD 301 series tests. Thus, environmental classification of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylatefor acute or chronic aquatic hazards is not indicated.
