Several non-GLP studies equivalent or similar to OECD guideline 203 and one GLP-study according to OECD guideline 203 are available for dipropylene glycol methyl ether.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Dipropylene glycol methyl ether had no effect on mortality or any other effects in a limit test at 1000 mg/L on Guppy (Poecilia reticulate). No effects were observed on the lake Emerald shiner (EC50>150 mg/L). A marine study with the sheepshead minnow (Cyprinodon variegatis) reported an EC50 > 1930 mg/L. Further, no effect on mortality were observed on Fathead minnow (Pimephales promelas) in a first study at 150 mg/L, as well as in a subsequent limit test at a concentration of 10’000 mg/L. The short-term toxicity to fish is very low; therefore the EC50 for fish is considered to be greater that 10'000 mg/L.
