Description of key information

The BCF for the substance is calculated to be 3.968 L/kg ww

Additional information

At log Kow values between 4 and 5, log BCF increases linearly with log Kow. This linear relationship is the basis for the B screening criterion of log Kow > 4.5. At very high log Kow (>6), a decreasing relationship between the two parameters is observed, so even if the high log Kow value of AKD initially indicates a high bioaccumulation potential, there are reports pointing out that the likeliness of bioaccumulation declines with log Kow values above 6, and the aquatic BCF of a substance is probably lower than 2000 l/kg if the calculated log Kow is higher than 10 (TGD R.11, p. 28). The very high log Kow value (14.2) therefore suggests that AKD should be considered as not bioaccumulating.


Additionally direct and indirect exposure of the aquatic compartment is limited, the bioavailability of the substance is very low, and no specific uptake mechanism apart from lipophilic partitioning is known or suspected.


In conclusion, AKD does not fulfil the bioaccumulation criteria and should not be considered as bioaccumulating (B) or very bioaccumulating (vB).
