Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Conclusions:
the partition coefficient of momobutyltin trichloride was calculated to be log Pow = 1, based on solobility in water and n-octanol

Description of key information

It was not possible to perform the test due to the low water solubility of the material and technical difficulties arising in the analysis of the material. Furthermore it is not possible to calculate a value as there are no validated QSAR methods for organometallics. The key value used was the Mean Kow determined from the bioaccumulation study, Tsuda et al (1988)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Log Kow (Log Pow):
1.145

Additional information

Until very recently, the substance was considered to exhibit properties such that a waiver has been submitted to address this end point based on data to suggest the substance rapidly hydrolysed. This is no longer believed to be the case and new information now indicates the substance may in fact behave differently than originally thought. A new partition coefficient study is therefore to be attempted to try and obtain a definitive result. The study is expected to be finished second quarter 2019 and the registration is proposed to be updated to take account of this information in late secoond quarter/ third quarter 2019.
