No test data on the bioaccumulation potential of DPHP are available; therefore, reliable and valid QSAR models were used to estimate the BCF. The reliable BCF values range from 8 to 166, yielding a mean BCF of 55. It can be concluded that DPHP is not expected to significantly accumulate in organisms. These predictions are supported by the findings of Gobas et al. (2003). In this publication it is concluded that higher molecular weight phthalate esters show evidence of trophic dilution in aquatic food-webs which is consistent with findings from laboratory and modeling studies that hint at metabolic transformation as key mitigating factor. Furthermore, the results are supported by the data of a monitoring program in The Netherlands. In this program DPHP could not be detected in any of the 30 biota samples (RIC 2011).
