2-methylbut-2-ene is expected to have a low potential for adsorption based on a log Kow of 2.67. The calculated Koc is 183 based on the Sabljic et al. (1995) method as set out in the Technical Guidance Document (ECB 2003).

2-methylbut-2-ene has a Henry's Law Constant of 11145 Pa.m3/mol (OECD 2004). The result is supported by results calculated from the physico-chemical properties and data from the QSAR estimation (US EPA 2009). 2-methylbut-2-ene is expected to volatilise rapidly from water to air, with a half-life in rivers of 51 minutes and in lakes of 3.3 days (EPIWIN, US EPA 2008).
