Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Justification for type of information:
In accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI testing does not appear scientifically necessary. This substance is a low melting solid (21 C) and the test for flammability of liquids is more appropriate than the test associated with this end point (solids test A10) The flammability of liquids is determined on basis of their flashpoint (in combination with their boiling point), their ability to emit flammable gases upon contact with water and their pyrophoricity. The molecular structure of benzyl benzoate does not contain groups that indicate potential reactivity with water or pyrophoric properties. The flashpoint is already reported.
Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be soluble in water to form a stable mixture
Endpoint:
pyrophoric solids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
