Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
flammable solids
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
other:
Justification for type of information:
JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
The study is not technically feasible since the substance decomposes in contact with air.
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
reference to other study
Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water
Justification for type of information:
JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
The test was not performed experimentally because the practical experience of the sponsor shows that no gases are developed, when the test substance is in contact with water. The test substance is therefore regarded as not being flammable in contact with water.
Endpoint:
pyrophoric solids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Justification for type of information:
JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
The test was not performed experimentally because practical experience exists at the sponsor facility, e.g. when handling small amounts of the test substance repeatedly in air. The test substance is therefore regarded as not being pyrophoric.

Description of key information

Flammability (study technically not feasible): The study is not technically feasible since the substance decomposes in contact with air.

Flammability on contact with water: Data waiving (study scientifically not necessary): Based on experience on handling and use, the substance is stable and does not became spontaneously flammable or emit flammable gases in contact with water.

Pyrophoric properties: Data waiving (study scientifically not necessary): Based on experience on handling and use, the substance is stable and does not spontaneously ignite when exposed to air.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

Flammability (study technically not feasible): The study is not technically feasible since the substance decomposes in contact with air.

Flammability on contact with water: Data waiving (study scientifically not necessary): Based on experience on handling and use, the substance is stable and does not became spontaneously flammable or emit flammable gases in contact with water.

Pyrophoric properties: Data waiving (study scientifically not necessary): Based on experience on handling and use, the substance is stable and does not spontaneously ignite when exposed to air.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on experience on handling and use, the substance is stable and does not became spontaneously flammable or emit flammable gases in contact with water, and neither does spontaneously ignite when exposed to air. Therefore, Fatty acids, C16 -18 (even numbered), ammonium salts is considered to be non-flammable and the substance is not classified in accordance with CLP Regulation (EC) no. 1272/2008.
