Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove victim to fresh air. Seek medical attention if

symptoms persist.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes.

Seek medical attention if symptoms persist.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash skin with soap and plenty of water. Seek medical

attention if symptoms persist.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Seek immediate medical attention if

symptoms persist.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Extinguish fire with water. Undamaged containers exposed to

but not directly involved in a fire may be removed if

without risk.

Product arising from burning: Combustion products may contain carbon oxides and soot.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: A self-contained breathing apparatus must be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear appropriate personal protective equipment conforming to

the relevant national or international standards, as

mentioned in section 2.3.00.

Avoid dust formation by covering the effected area with damp

sand or earth. Absorb spillages of solutions with a

suitable inert material (eg. sand or soil). Carefully

transfer the spillage to waste containers, or use a sealed

industrial vacuum machine. Containers filled with waste

material must be labelled in the same way as the original

substance containers.

Dispose of waste material in accordance with local

regulations by incineration or landfill or return to

supplier in sealed containers.

Handling and storage

Handling: Wear clean protective overalls, gloves and a dust mask (BS

6016 type 2) when handling the material.

The substance should be stored, handled and used under

conditions of good industrial hygiene and in conformity with

any local regulations in order to avoid exposure.

Engineering controls are necessary to reduce exposure to the

substance.

When exposure cannot be prevented or adequately controlled

appropriate personal protective equipment should be worn.

Such protective equipment should conform to the appropriate

international or national standards as follows;

Chemical protective gloves to Standard EN374

Chemical protective clothing to Standard EN368

Eye protection to Standard EN166

Furthermore, when respiratory protective equipment has to be

used, it must be capable of adequately controlling

exposure, be suitable for the purpose, and conform to the

appropriate international or national standards, such as a

dust mask conforming to EN136.

These measures should be regarded as a minimum.

Storage: Store in original container, tightly closed in a safe place.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: 10 kg polyethylene-lined multi-ply sacks, contained in a

"Jaxpal" box (20 sacks per box)

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: None reported.

Chemical reaction with water: None reported.

Dust explosion: Under normal conditions of use this material does not

present a significant explosion hazard. However, like most

organic compounds it is combustible and may form a dust

explosion if widely dispersed in air.

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery of the substance after use is not possible. At the

present time, it is not possible to recycle spilt or

slightly contaminated material.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: On the basis of the tests performed, there are no hazardous

effects requiring neutralisation.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Landfill is possible for the material.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance should be incinerated at 1100 Deg C with a

minimum residence time of three seconds.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: If the substance accidentally enters a water purification

system, no harmful effects should occur as it is virtually

insoluble in water.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not enter the public domain. Plastics

containing the substance should be treated in the usual

manner.
