Description of key information

With high probability 1-Ethyl-3-Methylimidazolium ethylsulfate is acutely not otxic to aquatic algae.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
100 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
100 mg/L

Additional information

In a non-GLP, 72-hour static test with the green alga Selenastrum capricornutum (new name: Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata) according to ISO 8692, the algae toxicity of 1-Ethyl-3-Methylimidazolium ethylsulfate was studied (Notox/Goldschmidt GmbH 2005). Statistical evaluation of the endpoint growth rate revealed an EC50 (72h) > 100 mg/l and a NOEC of 100 mg/l (nominal, analytically verified).
